Sign up to receive a bookmark, book bag, and a reading chart where you can keep track of book titles, number of pages, or amount of time spent reading. Bring your chart to the Library each week in June and July to get it stamped and enter your name for the prize drawing – one entry per week per participant. Weekly prizes drawn every Monday in June and July. Grand prizes drawn at the pool party. Bring your completed reading record to the Library from July 31 until school starts to have your names put on a book plate in a new Library book!

Tuesday Snacks and Movies – Free Healthy Snacks provided by Second Harvest from 2:30-3:30 pm and Movies at 3:00 pm. Click to see movie selections for June and July.

Sharing Patterns, Sharing Lives: Kansas Quilt Workshop presented by Deborah Divine – July 20 at 4:00 pm
Learn about an innovative group of Emporia quilters whose work is now housed in art museums. Following a presentation and discussion, participants will make a Rose Kretsinger-inspired quilt square. Please pre-register.

Quilt Show – July 18-31
Quilters are invited to display their handiwork at our Quilt Show. The People’s Choice Award winner will receive a $25 WalMart Gift Card. Click here to view and print an entry form.

Preschool Storytime with Susan Bryant – Thursdays, 10-10:45 am
The fun goes on all summer long! Stories, music, and crafts for kids age 3 to 6. Parents and caregivers welcome.

Toddler Storytime with Traci Hinton – Every other Wednesday, 10-10:30 am Storytime for kids age birth-3. Older siblings welcome, too. See calendar for dates.

Baby Storytime with Leah McPeak – Every other Wednesday, 11-11:30 am Storytime for babies age birth-24 mo. Older siblings welcome, too. See calendar for dates.

Outreach Lunchtime Storytimes – Thursdays, 11:30-1:00
Join us at ACES Summer Lunch Program to read a story, grab a coloring page, or borrow a book from the Friends of the Library Book Box! Lunch served June 6 – August 12 from 11:30-1:00 downstairs at the Brown County Jail.

It’s Elementary – Thursdays, 10-10:45 am
Elementary age kids will have fun every Thursday morning. Come enjoy a variety of projects, games, and activities each week.

Lego Club – 2nd Mondays, 10:00-11:30 am
Join our regular meeting to build and have fun.

Kids Creative Workshop – Every Tuesday at 10 am (Grades 1 and up)
Hands-on and participatory projects every week for kids. No preregistration.

Swimming Party

Knitting Club – Every Monday at 6:00 pm
Experienced knitters as well as first time knitters are welcome. First time knitters can get help and the conversation for everyone is lively and fun.

Quilters Club
June 1 at 4:00 pm – Sharon Waser will demonstrate “Fold and Stitch Wreath”
June 15 from 9:00 – 5:00 – Work Day – Bring your current project, sewing machine, and other equipment and enjoy a day in good company.
July 6 at 4:00 pm – Meet with other quilters and discuss projects.
July 20 at 4:00 pm – Sharing Patterns, Sharing Lives: Kansas Quilt Workshop presented by Deborah Divine (see above)

Wednesday Book Club – 2nd Wednesday at 9:30 am
All are welcome to join in this informal book discussion group.

Culinary Quests – 4th Monday at 6:00 pm
This group chooses a food theme or culture to explore each month. Participants bring a covered dish and recipe to share with the group, and their own table service.
